Dave Jauss new bench coach

I really don't think it matters, but there is nothing interesting to talk about now.

Dave Jauss will be the new bench coach for the New York Mets.  He was previously with the Orioles, as bench coach.
Chip Hale will be the third base coach for the Mets.  He was previously with the Diamondbacks.
Razor Shines will move over to be first base coach.  I am not suprised because he made a lot of not so amazing calls last year.
From what I can gather, neither are amazing.  Though I bet if they can think with 5% of there mind they're better than Razor.  I just hope we can have a post about the Mets signing Matt Holliday SOON!

Where will the Free Agents End Up?

These are only Free Agents that the Mets might sign.

1. Matt Holliday- Mets- Desperately need a power left fielder, also need to get fans hyped after a disappointing season.
2. John Lackey- Red Sox- Trying to find a pitcher to solidify rotation; if Yankees didn't spend so much last year I would probably pick them for Lackey.
3. Jason Bay- Giants-  Like the Mets, the Giants need a Power hitting outfielder, though they will not be able to afford Holliday so Bay is a good suitor.
4. Chone Figgins- Angels-The Angels have internal options at third base, but he'd be hard to let go after a career-high .395 OBP and excellent defense at the hot corner.
5.  Randy Wolf- Mets- The Mets did not concentrate on him last offseason, and that turned out to be a big mistake.  He and another starter similiar to his potential can even out that rotation.
6. Mike Cameron- Padres- Need him back for another year.
7. Joel Piniero-Cardinals-Pitched so great for Cardinals; they are not going to let him go.
8. Bengie Molina- Nationals- I'm happy I did not pick the Mets for this one, because I think they should go after a more defensive oriented catcher for a one year deal.
9. Jason Marquis- Mets- If they do not get Lackey, expect them to get to #3 starters, which is what Marquis is
10. Ben Sheets-Rangers- Showed interest in him before, though wouldn't be surprised if the Brewers landed Sheets.

MLB Trade Rumors has Top 50 Free Agents List

MLB Trade Rumors has predicted where the top 50 free agents are going to land for next year.  Fortunately,  it was very generous to the Mets, saying we will sign Holliday, Wolf, and Penny.

I agree with this except that the Mets are definitely not going to sign Brad Penny.  I would hope for Piniero or Marquis instead of Penny.   I hope they also get Barajas for Catcher.  Then the Mets team would look something like this:

Rotation:
Santana
Wolf
Piniero/Marquis
Pelfrey
Maine/Perez/Niese[probably Niese]
Lineup:
Reyes
Catillo
Wright
Beltran
Holliday
Francour
Barajas
Murphy/Davis[if Davis makes it to the Majors]

Boy, that would be nice!

MLB Trade Rumors has Top 50 Free Agents List

According to MLB Trade Rumors, the Mets will get Matt Holliday, Randy Wolf, and Brad Penny this off-season. From now on, my opinion will be in bold.  I am pretty happy with the predictions, and Rod Barajas was not in the Top 50 Free Agents anyway, so I assume it thinks the Mets will get him too.  Sorry I cannot put pictures on my posts anymore because blogger is having a problem.

Baseball America Top 10 Mets Prospects

The Baseball America Top 10 Mets Prospects List is:

1. Jenry Mejia
2. Wilmer Flores
3. Fernando Martinez
4. Ike Davis
5. Brad Holt
6. Jon Niese
7. Reese Havens
8. Josh Thole
9. Ruben Tejada
10. Juan Urbina

I find this interesting because Juan Urbina might be said to have a lot of upside but he still has not pitched a game at the professional level.  I would put Davis at number 1 and put Mejia at number 2. Then Martinez, Holt, Niese in that order.  I would also add Nieuwenhuis at number 7, move back Havens to 8, Thole 9, Tejada 10.

Pirates interested in trading Ryan Doumit

The Pittsburgh Pirates  are said to be interested in trading Ryan Doumit.  Doumit had a great season in 2008 with a .315 average.  Though he struggled in 2009 while dealing with injuries.  Trust me, I know, he was on my fantasy team.  But if he is healthy, he is dangorous at the plate. Though I think Rod Barajas would be a better option because I would rather the Mets get an offensive left fielder rather than an offensive catcher with a huge risk with injuries, which is not something Met fans want in 2010.  To read my article on Barajas, click here.
